Ponfeigh Golden Retrievers

I have one dream – To breed and own a Champion Golden Retriever.

How did it all start?

In 1982, on my first wedding anniversary I got my first Golden. His name was Sirocco, actually I wanted a VW Sirocco car and landed up with a dog instead. No difference!!!

My dream started then.

Sirocco, whose Kennel Club name was Purdearne Baron Meistersinger, was a Nortonwood Faunus son. While working part time with my husband in our shop this gave me plenty time to attend the local dog shows with my cousin. My interest grew and at Sirocco’s first Champ show he got his first of many prizes, which included 2 Best of Breeds. At almost all of Sirocco’s shows he picked up a prize, usually firsts and seconds.

The show bug had bitten.

Later came Faunus, Ponfeigh Playboy, my second golden, from the Darrochona camp, and of course my 2 children, Carolynn and Stuart.

Things were put on hold for a while following a few hard years. But the dream remained on the back burner.

Sadly I lost Faunus at 6 years old and Sirocco at the grand old age of 16 ½ yrs. Part of my heart died with them, they were my rocks.

A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

A new chapter of goldens began for me in 1998. His name was Wallace named after my son’s hero, William Wallace. His Kennel Club name is Glentayne High Land at Ponfeigh. The shows started again gaining more prizes.

Following Wallace in 2000 came Bonnie and Clyde, a right pair of gangsters. Both from the Stanroph Kennels. Their names are Stanroph Super Sara of Ponfeigh and Stanroph Super Samson of Ponfeigh. Litter brother and sister, both out of Ch/Aust Ch Stanroph Shogun x Xanthos Lemongrass amongst Stanroph.

Although Bonnie has not been out much recently, she has picked up prizes at almost every show entered. Clyde on the other hand has had a lot of success. Gradually picking up more and more firsts with every show he goes to.  If he does half as well as his Dad then my dreams will have been answered.

Our latest addition is Senna. Kennel Club name Gorefinadan First Knight at Ponfeigh. Senna is out of Stanroph So it Had to be x Gorefinadan Bright Eclipse. What can I say except, Oh my, What a Character!!!!!

And so the story continues………

We now have a few more familar faces at "the Ponfeigh Kennels." They are Briagha - Ponfeigh First Lady, Diesel - Ponfeigh To Be or Not To Be and Rocky - Ponfeigh Demolition Man. All of these are from my first litter by Bonnie and Sc CH Stanroph So it Had to BE j.w.

Our next addition was Lita - Ponfeigh Spanish Lolita.  She was from our second litter and was out of Bonnie & Senna.

Lita, Briagha & Senna have all been shown.  All have done exceptionally well and qualified many times for Crufts.

Finally, for the moment, we have our newest addition to the Family.  She is called Jorja - Ponfeigh She-Bee Stingin.  She is out of Briagha's first litter to Woody - Sc Ch Stanroph Endlewood Nicholas jw.

Jorja will make her first show appearance in Feb 2007.
